Bonner Profile Info

Hey Bonners! So, I'm working on finishing the wiki as my winter term project and I would really love to put more info up on our Bonner Profiles. I have everyone's information like birthday, e-mail, major (if declared), current service site (except for first years, cuz you don't have CLAs yet), and any other info you put up on those sign up sheets at the first All Bonner meetings this year, but as we're trying to foster community, as well improve our access to information about service at Oberlin, it would be great if I could get you to post some more info up on the blog and then I can put it on your profile! So, here's the info I would love to have (if you don't want to put it up I understand, though you probably have all this info up on your Facebook page!):
  • Hometown
  • Previous service sites (and time spent at those sites)
  • Summer service sites/activities
  • Winter term service sites/activites
  • Study abroad (when and where)
  • Favorite movie
  • Favorite color
  • Favorite book
  • Best class you've taken at Oberlin
  • Favorite food
  • Hobbies
  • And anything else you want Bonners to know about you!
Think of this as a getting to know you activity, but we don't have to do any weird dances, make funny sounds, or cross any lines! If you choose not to do this until after finals, you'll be able to put these things on your profile with the handy profile template I'll put up! But that won't happen until after January 10th (my 21st birthday!!!!) cuz it's finals and then I'll be in Brazil and then it's my birthday, so I won't be doing a whole lot on the wiki until after that. Thanks though!!!

Bonner love,
ChiChi

my bonner blag...will you read it?

Kudos to whoever came up with this idea. I've toyed with the notion of keeping a blog, but was afraid of coming across as another pretentious, snarky, Mac-wielding college student. Now that I'm safely nestled in the cushions of Bonner Love, I can now use this "bonnerblag" to say things, some of which may not make any sense. I wonder how long I can go without using self-referential humor to get applause.

Hey, y'all! This is pretty cool. Thanks for setting it up, Chi Chi! No one else was posting, so I thought I should write something up here.

Happy almost Thanksgiving!!

Joining the blog!!!

Hey Bonners!!! So before (though no one did it! Shame on you all!) you would have had to post on the blog by commenting on a post which the Reflection Committee had posted, but now, you can all have your own username and password and you can make your own posts on this blog! You should have gotten an e-mail inviting you to join this blog, so don't just delete it, actually accept and then post! Remember, every time that you post on the blog you get to log an hour! Easy Bonner hours people! Just do it! Also, look for the wiki scavenger hunt that will be coming your way once the wiki is finished! Get ready for it by checking out the wiki at http://oberlinserves.pbwiki.com. All of the Bonner stuff can be found by clicking the Bonner link on the frontpage or on the sidebar. All of us have a profile on the wiki, so check out your own profile and the profiles of your fellow Bonners. If you don't like the picture we chose for you, e-mail us at oberlinserves@gmail.com and include the picture that you want up on the page (nothing inappropriate please!). Enjoy blogging!

Yay for Bonner blogging!

Hey Oberlin Bonners,
So, welcome to the OC Bonner Blog!!! This is a space to talk about anything you want to regarding service, reflection, and basically anything else! I just wanted to post and let you know about all of the cool ways in which our Bonner program is trying to expand its reach and build our community. So, Jerome, Alyssa, Julie and I all went to SLI (the Summer Leadership Institute) at Allegheny College last June and we learned about all of these lovely social networking tools. I'm not gonna lie, they weren't the most enthralling workshops ever, but despite that I got really excited about all the possibilities for reinforcing our community. We want everyone to feel comfortable talking to other Bonners about their service. If you need to vent, vent. If you want to share something, share it here! If you have a question, ask it here! Hopefully you have already seen our Oberlin Bonner Wiki (http://oberlinserves.pbwiki.com) and you know that if you need any information you can find it there! If something is missing, e-mail me at elissa.nieves@oberlin.edu and let me know! I'll add it! We also have our new Bonner Google Calendar! Yay! So now if you lose your calendar you have no excuse! It is up there! Also, everyone's birthdays are listed on the calendar. And if you have anything really big that you want to add, feel free to log on to the calendar and add it! Beware though, if all-Bonner access to the calendar is abused (i.e. you erase something important!!!) I'll have to change the password and restrict access. I would hate to do that because it would mean more work for me! And less fun for you! So, add any service events that you are hosting and/or aware of. And if you have something really big like a junior or senior recital, senior art show, or Mellon presentation, add that on the calendar so that Bonners know about it and can attend. We love to support Bonners at Oberlin! (At least I do!). Um... so I think that that's it. If you have any questions or just anything you want to add, feel free to post and/or comment! Just make sure to sign you name and class year so that we know who is writing!
